Through Other Eyes (Paperback)
Through Other Eyes is a collection of short stories, each of which is a fictional rendering of a Bible story. What makes this anthology noteworthy is the fact that none of Fenton's narrators are the Biblical narrator and so the perspective is different from that of the Biblical telling of the story. Most of the narrators are actually named in the story as found in the Bible. Historical and Biblical accuracy has been maintained in each story. Why didn't those Hebrew midwives kill all those little boys as Pharaoh had commanded? Which delivery was truly special? One brother took all of his inheritance, left home and squandered it, but which brother was really prodigal? Handmaid, mistress or wife? What was Hagar's true position? Where are you protected? Is there protection behind the line of scarlet thread? One brother killed the other because of her. Did she remain a desolate woman the rest of her days?
Beverley Fenton is a devoted Christian who has been led by the Lord to search the Scriptures and write as He gives her inspiration. In obedience to that calling, she wrote the stories which she later compiled under the title "Through Other Eyes." Ms. Fenton is no stranger to writing and the written word. She has 7 1/2 years of experience as a high school teacher of English Language and English Literature in her island home of Montserrat as well as in Tortola, British Virgin Islands and Jamaica, where she received her teacher training. She left this field of work to pursue the Master of Public Administration at Syracuse University and, subsequently, a brief career as a public servant in American city government. After a period as a stay-at-home mom during which she used her spare moments to research and write, Ms. Fenton returned to education, particularly special education. Currently, she is an online educator. Another anthology, designed to remind women that God loves them unconditionally, is her current project. Ms. Fenton resides in Virginia.
