Pete Clarke is looking forward to his first night as Nightshift manager in the soon to be re-opened 'One Shoppe' supermarket on the outskirts of the sleepy Scottish village Riverdell, but he is about to embark on an unexpected task with the oddest bunch of misfits - all in one place and working under him on the Night Shift. The last of the doomed Vedikian race has been ejected into space; bound on a trajectory for Earth; specifically for Riverdell village.
