Christiana Figueres and Tom Rivett-Carnac - The Future We Choose: Surviving the Climate Crisis — in conversation with Tom Friedman

Upcoming Event
Thursday, February 27, 2020 - 7:00pm to 8:00pm

An internationally recognized leader in the climate emergency, Figueres was executive secretary of the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change from 2010 to 2016. Her new book, co-authored with Rivett-Carnac, who worked with her on negotiations for the Paris Agreement, looks ahead to the year 2050, laying out two possible scenarios for the future of our imperiled planet. Should we fail to meet the goals of the Paris Convention, the outlook is bleak. If we work to curb fossil fuels, unsustainable farming, and other practices, we can create a carbon-neutral world in which everyone can thrive. The authors propose ten steps we can take to make the differences that will not just see us through the crisis but result in a more just and equitable society.
