Kate Aronoff and Michael Kazin - We Own the Future: Democratic Socialism--American Style — at Union Market

Upcoming Event
Thursday, January 16, 2020 - 7:00pm to 8:00pm

For the first time since the Great Depression, a majority of Americans under thirty view socialism more favorably than they do capitalism. In their primer on what this shift could mean, Aronoff, a contributor to Harpers, The Guardian, The Nation, and others; and Kazin, professor of history at Georgetown and a co-editor of Dissent magazine, have collected essays by some of the country’s foremost political activists, including Naomi Klein, Robert Kuttner, Tejasvi Nagaraja, Michelle Chen, and David Zirin. Together, the editors present a brief history of democratic socialism, offer a scenario of what a socialist America could look like in practice, and show various ways we can get there from here.
